REMEMBER ... EVERY WORKER HAS THE LEGAL RIGHT TO BELONG TO A UNION
Once a worker reports a matter to the Union, contact is made with the employer either by phone or letter and usually by both. This is because is can be quicker to resolve a problem by dealing directly with the employer rather than wait for the whole process of going through the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Court. Many employers, however, choose not to respond positively to approaches from the Union and so we have to use the legal avenues open for resolving trade disputes.
