Bernadette Hood-Caesar visited T&T recently. She took the opportunity to market her self-

published book THE COURAGE TO GO FORWARD. Ms. Hood Caesar took the NAR government

to court in 1987 when they took away public servants’ Cost of Living Allowance and

increments. The book is a narrative of her experiences while taking on that herculean task.

The book deals with a period of the history of trade union movement that holds many

lessons for younger trade unionists and it would be useful if they study those lessons by

getting their hands on the book.

NWU’s Rae Samuel caught up with Bernadette at the June 19th celebrations in Fyzabad and

did this interview with her.
