On Wednesday March 20th 2013, the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers' Association (TTUTA) staged a picket demonstration at the Ministry of Education in Port of Spain.

The picket was aimed at urging the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) and the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) to stop the undue delay and ensure  that 2010 graduates of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT)  are upgraded from Assistant Teacher positions. After two and a half years these teachers have not been upgraded to Teacher I status.

Rae Samuel, National Equality Officer of the National Workers Union, speaks to three of the teachers affected by this blatant discrimination. (See video here)
