LABOUR DAY ACCORD June 19th 2011

LABOUR DAY ACCORD

The Joint Trade Union leaders Group on this independent Labour Platform make the following demands:-

1. The Government to immediately remove the 5% wage cap and settle all outstanding wage negotiations

2. Immediate Removal of the Inter-Ministerial Committee allowing for free and fair collective bargaining in all sectors

3. The Government to immediately place labour legislation high on its legislative agenda for the coming parliamentary term.

4. The Government to immediately begin the process of constitutional reform

5. Government to immediately implement the labour Market survey in the T&TUTA negotiations

6. The Government to Immediately commence the process for developing a land-use and Agriculture policy

7. The Government to immediately Re-instate all workers who have been displaced through the non renewal of their contracts

8. The Government to immediately restructure of the Project Implementation Unit and review the National Youth Policy


In furtherance of these demands we the Joint Trade Union Leaders Group will commit ourselves to the following:-

1. Launch a campaign to pursue changing the system of governance

2. Massive Protest Demonstration at the Office of Prime Minister 17 days from today: 7 July, 2011

3. Continuing our joint workplace meetings and mobilization towards achieving numerous workplace shut down commencing last week in July, 2011

4. A series of protest demonstration involving workers from all sectors with outstanding wage negotiations across Trinidad and Tobago commencing end of August, 2011

5. These series of Joint Action will culminate in a General Strike on a date to be announced.
