Attention: The President

Dear Sir,

I sent the
following e-mail to you before and I thought it would have been deserving of an acknowledgement and action - given the grave consequences it portends for the public, our democratic rights and the general conduct of the affairs of State.

The contents of the letter now "legitimises" - by edict from the PM, the AG and head of the Public Service, the practice of ignoring FOIA Enquiries (Freedom of Information Act). As an ex Judge and the President of the Country you must understand the far reaching consequences of the edict and what this means for our Democracy.

It would be a dereliction of duty for you not to use your Office to make clear and public the obligation of the Executive under the FOI Act. Or if the letter from the PM is correct to publicly lobby for the law to be changed/amended forthwith - because from the PM's letter she has no intention in doing the latter.

This edict from the PM has become one of great public interest and concern and I am copying this e-mail to the many other persons who are following this matter and are seeking an intervention on their behalf.

An acknowledgement that this letter has been received would be appreciated - but more so would be an indication that action on your part would be taken to re-establish the rights of the public with regard to the intent of the FOI Act.

Yours faithfully,

Eugene A. Reynald
