The National Workers Union (NWU) briefly hosted Comrade Joaquin E. Lacke Portuondo of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People, Latin America and Caribbean Division on Wednesday 23rd October 2013 at our offices in Barataria.

Comrade Lacke met with Rae Samuel and Simeon Humphrey and
Comrade Lacke  in discussion with NWU's Simeon Humphrey
explained that his visit was to heighten awareness in Trinidad and Tobago of developments in Cuba, especially regarding the Cuban Five and to continue the warm relationship between the peoples of Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba.

Later that morning, at a media conference hosted by Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Cuba, Ana Rodriguez, issues of the American blockade of Cuba, its effects on the Cuban economy and on trade with third countries, were explored.

Appreciation was extended to the NWU for the key role the union’s website continues to play in providing accurate and reliable information on a range of issues.
