CUBAN AMBASSADOR VISITS NWU OFFICE

The Cuban Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago His Excellency Humberto Rivero Rosario paid a visit to the office of the National Workers Union (NWU) at Barataria on Friday September 28, 2012. 

The National Workers Union is one of many Trade Unions and Non Governmental Organizations in the country, which share friendly relations and joint co-operation with the Cuban Embassy, and the people of Cuba over many years. The NWU is one of many organizations in the country that the Ambassador is currently visiting. 

Comrades Dave Smith General Secretary, Cecil Paul Vice President and Executive Officer Rae Samuel represented the NWU at the meeting.    

The discussions centred around a range of mutual interest issues relating to visits to the country of friendship groups, the association of nationals educated in Cuba and living in the country, the association of Cuban nationals living in Trinidad & Tobago, activities of the UN Human Rights Commission as it relates to the Cuban 5 imprisoned in the USA and several joint cultural activities being arranged between the Cuban Embassy and local organizations including the Trade Unions. 

The National Workers Union has pledged its support and participation in these activities and reaffirmed its friendly relations with the Cuban Embassy and the Cuban people.
